Schneider Electric India, a prominent player in the energy management and automation sector, is currently exporting about two-thirds of its products manufactured in India to global markets, according to Deepak Sharma, Zone President for Greater India and MD & CEO of the company.

Sharma highlighted the significance of India’s economic growth, noting that the country’s progress from a $3.5 trillion to a $5 trillion economy presents ample opportunities for infrastructure and industrial development, which in turn drives demand for substantial energy solutions.

The company operates 31 manufacturing plants across India and is preparing to open its largest global factory in Bengaluru. This advanced facility, representing an investment of ₹450 crore, is set to be inaugurated next year.

The Bengaluru plant is part of Schneider Electric’s broader investment plan of ₹3,200 crore in India, announced earlier this year, which will be allocated over the next 18 months. Sharma mentioned that the company is also capitalizing on the government’s production-linked incentive scheme to bolster its manufacturing capabilities. In addition, Schneider Electric is upgrading its existing facilities into “smart” plants, with five already converted, reflecting its commitment to sustainability and technological advancement.

In alignment with global sustainability goals, Schneider Electric is focused on reducing its carbon footprint and improving energy efficiency across its operations. Sharma emphasized that smart manufacturing is crucial to the company’s strategy for integrating sustainable practices.

The European firm has also established its largest AI hub in India, underscoring the strategic role of its Indian operations in its global innovation strategy. Sharma expressed ambitious goals for India, aiming to surpass China and secure the second-highest revenue position within the company, which currently has the US as its top revenue contributor. Schneider Electric, with an annual revenue of €36 billion, has implemented AI across various functions, including sales and HR, to boost efficiency and productivity.
