Schneider Electric has teamed up with South Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd. (SBPDCL) to upgrade and modernize the state’s power distribution system. This partnership is a significant step toward providing reliable, efficient, and sustainable energy solutions to the people of Bihar.
As the demand for energy in Bihar grew, SBPDCL faced the challenge of ensuring stable and uninterrupted power distribution. The need to modernize and effectively manage the electrical grid became urgent to meet these demands.
Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure Grid solutions played a key role in overcoming these challenges. These advanced technologies provide robust monitoring capabilities, ensuring 24/7 operational uptime. The collaboration has led to notable improvements, with power reliability increasing by 90%. Additionally, energy consumption and costs have been reduced by up to 80% and 60%, respectively. Operational efficiency has also been optimized, with engineering costs and time reduced by 70%.

As part of the project, Schneider Electric set up a state-of-the-art Command-and-Control Center and Disaster Recovery Center for real-time monitoring, enhancing grid connectivity and reliability. The deployment also included 305 Ring Main Units (RMUs) to improve distribution power reliability and 550 Fault Passage Indicators (FPIs) to speed up fault detection and response. This collaboration further strengthens Schneider Electric’s commitment to advancing India’s energy transition and building resilient power infrastructure to support the country’s growth.
