Schaeffler, a leader in motion technology, is set to significantly increase its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across its global sites. By 2030, the company aims to add over 5,000 new charging points worldwide, with 3,000 of these located at its European facilities.

This initiative is a key part of Schaeffler’s broader sustainability strategy. The company has launched pilot projects at its German locations in Herzogenaurach and Schweinfurt to test the technology and operational model. Once these trials are successfully completed, Schaeffler plans to expand the project to other regions within the group.

“We are committed to sustainability and advancing e-mobility,” said Andreas Schick, Chief Operating Officer of Schaeffler AG. “Our goal is to continuously reduce CO2 emissions, including those from personal mobility. This project will not only enhance Schaeffler’s reputation as a sustainable employer but also encourage our employees to adopt more environmentally conscious behaviors.”

As part of a redevelopment effort at its Herzogenaurach site, Schaeffler has already installed 40 charging stations, which are currently available to employees at no cost. These stations, offering up to 22 kilowatts of charging capacity, represent the standard model to be implemented at all Schaeffler locations. An external partner will manage their operation and maintenance in the future.

Looking ahead, the Herzogenaurach site plans to add another 245 charging points by 2025, catering to employees, company vehicles, and visitors. Similarly, in Schweinfurt, the electrical infrastructure will be upgraded to support the installation of 122 additional charging stations, with initial operations expected to begin in 2025.
