Schaeffler India Introduces Planetary Gear System for Hybrid Vehicles

Schaeffler India has launched its new Planetary Gear System (PGS) for Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) vehicles. The PGS, made at Schaeffler’s Hosur Plant, aims to boost vehicle performance and provide benefits to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

Harsha Kadam, Managing Director and CEO of Schaeffler India, said, “The launch of PGS is a major milestone for us. It supports the ‘Make in India’ initiative and shows our commitment to delivering top-quality motion technology solutions for the automotive industry.”

The new gear system is designed to enhance hybrid automotive technology by reducing emissions, improving mileage, and ensuring smooth gear shifts. It supports various hybrid configurations, including series and parallel hybrids, and eCVT.

Aashish Bhatia, President of Automotive Technologies at Schaeffler India, added, “Our Planetary Gear Systems are built for optimal efficiency and smooth operation in hybrid vehicles. This development is a significant step in promoting cleaner and greener automotive technologies.”

The PGS can also be customized for use in E-axle variants, meeting the diverse needs of modern vehicle manufacturers and supporting the growing demand for hybrid vehicles.
