SBL Energy Limited, a leading industrial explosives manufacturer, has launched a new TNT (Trinitrotoluene) production facility at its sprawling 225-acre complex in Yenvera, Nagpur, Maharashtra. The plant, with an annual capacity of 3,000 tonnes, was inaugurated by former Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar alongside SBL Energy’s CEO Alok Choudhari and President Divyansh Choudhari.
This new facility is dedicated to exports and is expected to significantly increase SBL Energy’s international shipments to key markets, including Australia, Europe, and the United States. The company aims to enhance domestic TNT production to reduce reliance on imports, secure supply chains, and boost cost efficiency in India’s defence sector.
Kumar highlighted that the establishment of this plant is a direct result of evolving government policies that are reshaping India’s defence and aerospace landscape. He emphasized the plant’s role in positioning Nagpur on the global defence export map, contributing to India’s growing presence in the international defence market.
SBL Energy Chairman Sanjay Choudhari stated that the plant is part of a broader strategy to support India’s industrial growth, infrastructure development, and mining activities. The facility also aligns with the government’s push for self-reliance in defence manufacturing, aiming to enhance the nation’s defence capabilities and export potential.
Earlier this year, SBL Energy secured Rs 325 crore in growth capital from prominent investors, which has been instrumental in expanding its manufacturing capacity and launching new products, including this latest TNT plant.
