In April 2024, SANY entered into a strategic partnership with an Australian customer, marking the company’s first foray into the international market following the development of China’s largest integrated hydrogen production and refueling station. On May 20, 2024, SANY successfully delivered a custom-engineered hydrogen refueling system to Australia, further advancing its global green energy initiatives.

The project is built around state-of-the-art electrolysis hydrogen production technology, combined with an advanced control system that ensures smooth and efficient operation. The system features dual-stage supercharging and hydrogen storage at 50 MPa and 90 MPa. This allows the unit to simultaneously meet the refueling needs of both 35 MPa commercial trucks and 70 MPa passenger vehicles, ensuring quick and safe refueling for both cargo transport and daily use.

SANY’s hydrogen refueling equipment has been meticulously engineered to comply with the rigorous standards required for operation in the Australian market. In alignment with global best practices, the system has achieved full certification from internationally recognized bodies, including Bureau Veritas (BV) and TÜV SÜD. These certifications underscore SANY’s commitment to delivering safe, reliable, and efficient hydrogen infrastructure that meets both national and international benchmarks.

The system’s certifications include AS 3000 for electrical safety, which complies with Australia’s stringent Class 2 standards. It also holds dual certification for pressure vessels under ASME and AS 1200, incorporating the ASME U3 stamp and a fatigue life rated for over 20,000 cycles—ensuring durability and resilience. Additionally, the equipment conforms to the SAE J2601 hydrogen refueling protocol, enabling ultra-fast refueling of 70 MPa passenger vehicles in approximately three minutes. These certifications collectively ensure that SANY’s hydrogen solutions not only meet regulatory requirements but also deliver world-class performance and safety.

SANY’s development process is driven by careful design principles and thorough safety assessments. The project team conducted detailed risk evaluations for both the PEM Hydrogen Production and Purification System and the High-Pressure Hydrogen Refueling System. Key safety analysis methods, including Hazard Identification, Hazard and Operability Study, Safety Integrity Level, and Layer of Protection Analysis, helped ensure that potential risks were identified and mitigated early on, laying a strong foundation for safe and reliable hydrogen solutions.

With this successful project in Australia, SANY marks a significant milestone in its commitment to sustainable energy. The company continues to push forward in the clean energy sector, making advancements in wind, solar, hydrogen, energy storage, and microgrid technologies. “SANY is accelerating its shift toward decarbonization and green growth, contributing to the global green transition,” said Xiang Wenbo, Chairman of SANY Heavy Industry.

SANY’s expansion into the hydrogen market reflects its ongoing dedication to building a cleaner, more sustainable future through advanced technology and international collaboration. Since 1989, SANY has remained steadfast in its vision: to build a world-class enterprise, cultivate outstanding talent, and make meaningful contributions to society.
