Suresh Indu Lasers of Pune played a pivotal role in the life-saving rescue operation of the Silkyara Bend–Barkot tunnel collapse in Uttarakhand, utilizing their cutting-edge laser technology to aid in the 18-day mission. Their critical involvement in rescuing 41 workers trapped by the November 2023 disaster has highlighted the importance of advanced technology in emergency responses. SILASERS’s efforts were duly honoured at the 32nd National Laser Symposium (NLS-32), a renowned event supported by the Board of Research in Nuclear Science (BRNS) and the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE).

Suresh Indu Lasers (SILASERS), a Pune-based leader in laser technology, has been recognized for its pivotal role in a critical rescue operation following the Silkyara Bend–Barkot tunnel collapse in Uttarakhand. The tragic incident, which occurred on November 12, 2023, led to 41 workers being trapped. Over an intense 18-day period, SILASERS’ laser machines were crucial in successfully extracting the workers, showcasing the company’s expertise and commitment to saving lives.

This valiant effort was formally acknowledged at the 32nd National Laser Symposium (NLS-32), sponsored by the Board of Research in Nuclear Science (BRNS) and the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE). The Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT) symposium in Indore on January 29 became the stage for honouring SILASERS.
