Sandvik Coromant, a leading expert in metal cutting, has successfully revamped and launched its third ‘Green Model School’ and Balewadi. Located in Pimpri Chinchwad, Maharashtra, the Kamla Nehru Hindi Primary School has been completely transformed to become a Green Model School, with the goal of improving the quality of education for more than 400 students.
This initiative aims to enhance sustainability by installing solar panels, promote literacy through individual classroom libraries, and improve educational resources with digital infrastructure like computers and educational toys. In addition, Sandvik Coromant has enhanced the school’s interior by introducing vibrant aesthetics, including wall paintings and murals, to foster creativity and engagement among students.
The company has also designated staff members to teach computer skills and promote digital education among both students and teachers. The school was inaugurated on February 1, 2024, in the presence of Honorable PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh (IAS), Kiran Acharya (Managing Director and CFO of Sandvik Coromant India), government officials, school staff, and the Sandvik Coromant India Team.
During the summer of 2023, Sandvik Coromant launched its second Green Model school in Malegaon Village, showcasing its commitment to improving the quality of education for children in India. Kiran Acharya stated, “Sandvik Coromant has established a setting that not only motivates but also encourages students to develop a strong interest in STEM subjects.”
He emphasized the importance of primary education, noting that it lays the groundwork for a student’s future by preparing them for further academic endeavors. Acharya highlighted the significance of providing children with an environment that nurtures their ambitions and instills hope for their future in today’s modern world.
