Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Limited (SMIORE), a prominent entity in the mining and metals sector, has announced the appointments of Krishnendu Sanyal as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Manjunath Prabhu as Chief Operating Officer (COO). These new appointments are part of the Company’s strategy to enhance its management team and advance its goals for integration and sustainability within the metals and mining industry.
Krishnendu Sanyal, who will assume the role of CEO, brings approximately 32 years of experience in strategic, financial, and operational leadership. His career includes key positions at Tata Steel in India and Sri Lanka, The Siam Industrial Wire Co. in Thailand, and Sedibeng Iron Ore in South Africa. Known for his expertise in operational turnarounds and expansion, Sanyal’s background in acquisitions, integrations, and value creation aligns well with SMIORE’s future plans. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s in Business Administration, and has participated in the Tata Group Strategic Leadership Program at Harvard Business School.
Manjunath Prabhu, appointed as COO, brings around 36 years of experience in operations and strategic planning. His notable roles include positions at JSW Steel in Vijayanagar, Essar Steel in Visakhapatnam, and KOICL in Mangalore. Prabhu is well-versed in the Ballari region’s metals and mining operations, with expertise spanning production, project commissioning, land acquisition, and raw material handling. He is a Mechanical Engineering graduate and participated in Cornell University’s Future Fit Leader program from 2016-19.
