Samvardhana Motherson to Acquire Majority Stake in Atsumitec for $57 Million

Samvardhana Motherson Ltd., a leading auto components manufacturer, has announced plans to acquire a 95% stake in Japan-based Atsumitec through an all-cash deal valued at $57 million. The transaction also includes the purchase of a 49% stake in Atsumitec Indonesia from Honda Motor on the day of the acquisition.

Atsumitec specializes in manufacturing high-precision machined components, including gear shifters, chassis, and transmission parts for two-wheelers and four-wheelers. The company operates nine facilities across seven countries, including Japan, China, the U.S., Mexico, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam.

This acquisition enables Samvardhana Motherson to strengthen its presence with Japanese Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and diversify its portfolio by venturing into new product lines and markets, such as Vietnam’s two-wheeler segment. Additionally, the deal provides Samvardhana Motherson with access to Atsumitec’s global expertise in metalworking and machining technologies. Completion of the acquisition is subject to obtaining merger control clearance from Japan’s regulatory authorities.
