Sakthi Aircraft to Manufacture 150 Trainer Planes in India

Sakthi Aircraft Industry is set to produce 150 trainer aircraft in India, marking a significant step towards boosting domestic plane manufacturing. A joint venture between Tamil Nadu’s Sakthi Group and Austria’s Diamond Aircraft, Sakthi Aircraft Industry will assemble 150 of the 200 trainer DA40 NG planes at its planned facility in Haryana, as announced by the company’s MD & CEO, Vaibhav D, on Tuesday.

An MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) was signed between the Aero Club of India and Sakthi Aircraft Industry during an event in New Delhi. The Aero Club of India has consolidated aircraft orders from various Flying Training Organisations (FTOs).

Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu emphasized the importance of supporting FTOs to ensure global standards in India’s aviation sector. Aero Club of India President and Lok Sabha member Rajiv Pratap Rudy called the order of 200 trainer aircraft a historic milestone.

Sakthi Aircraft Industry is a prominent joint venture between Tamil Nadu’s Sakthi Group and Austria’s Diamond Aircraft, specializing in the production and assembly of aircraft. The company is focused on strengthening India’s aerospace sector by manufacturing a variety of aircraft, with a particular emphasis on trainer planes.

Recently, Sakthi Aircraft Industry secured a major order to assemble 150 DA40 NG trainer aircraft for the Indian market. These aircraft will be produced at a new state-of-the-art facility being set up in Haryana, as part of a larger contract for 200 trainer aircraft with a global OEM partner.
