SAIL Collaborates with John Cockerill India for Green Steel Technology

Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), a state-owned maharatna company, has joined hands with John Cockerill India Ltd (JCIL), the Indian arm of the global John Cockerill Group, to integrate green technologies into its iron and steelmaking processes. This strategic partnership underlines SAIL’s commitment to adopting sustainable, advanced methods to revolutionize traditional steel production practices.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two entities focuses on developing solutions for cold rolling and processing of carbon steel and silicon steel, including cold-rolled grain-oriented (CRGO) and cold-rolled non-oriented (CRNO) steels. Additionally, the collaboration seeks to enhance production efficiency and environmental sustainability by leveraging cutting-edge steelmaking technologies.

SAIL’s move aligns with market demands for sustainable industrial practices, reinforcing its dedication to a greener future. Despite facing a 31% dip in consolidated net profit to ₹897.15 crore during the September quarter due to reduced income, the company remains steadfast in its pursuit of innovation and sustainability.
