Safran Electronics & Defense is strengthening its presence in India with the establishment of a state-of-the-art electronics manufacturing facility and a research and development (R&D) center in Bengaluru. The new production site will focus on electronic circuit boards and avionics and defense computing systems, while the R&D center will drive innovation in electronics.

These new facilities will play a key role in Safran Electronics & Defense’s global expansion, enhancing exports from India in the defense, space, and avionics sectors. By streamlining industrial processes, the initiative aims to accelerate the availability of critical equipment and deepen collaboration with Indian customers and partners.

“This strategic investment marks a significant milestone in Safran Electronics & Defense’s industrial and R&D growth in India. It will boost competitiveness, foster local technological integration, and aligns with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. Safran remains committed to harnessing India’s engineering talent and contributing to the country’s industrial development,” said Franck Saudo, CEO of Safran Electronics & Defense.

The manufacturing facility, spanning 12,000 square meters in Bengaluru’s airport region, is expected to create around 400 jobs. Industrial operations are set to commence in early 2026, with an annual production capacity of approximately 30,000 units and several hundred product variations by 2030. Meanwhile, the 3,000-square-meter R&D center at Kalyani Tech Park will be operational by August 2025, employing 250 engineers and technicians. This dual investment underscores Safran Electronics & Defense’s commitment to expanding its global production and engineering expertise in electronics.
