Safex Chemicals, a prominent player in the specialty chemicals sector, has officially begun operations at its newest manufacturing facility in Bharuch, Gujarat. Launched in April 2025, this state-of-the-art facility marks a significant milestone in the company’s expansion efforts and will play a key role in improving supply chain efficiency and product availability in India’s crucial agricultural regions.

The new facility will focus on producing a wide variety of liquid and powder crop protection formulations, enabling Safex to better meet the growing demand from agricultural hubs across the country. With a current production capacity of 23,335 MT for liquid products and 51,395 MT across all product types—including liquid, powder, and granules—this new plant will add an initial output of 30 MT per day for liquid formulations, with the capacity to scale up to 80 MT per day. The Bharuch site is set to become a critical operational hub, particularly for markets in western, central, and southern India.

S K Chaudhary, Chairman of Safex Chemicals, commented on the facility’s launch, saying, “The Bharuch plant represents a significant advancement in Safex’s mission to provide innovative crop protection solutions to farmers. Its central location enhances our ability to serve key agricultural markets in India more efficiently. This facility will also serve as the backbone for our agritech platform, Golden Farms, and further solidify Safex’s manufacturing leadership, both domestically and globally.”

The Bharuch facility features fully automated production lines and a cutting-edge R&D centre designed to develop advanced formulations tailored to the needs of Indian farmers. This centre will drive innovations that aim to boost agricultural productivity while ensuring sustainability. In line with its commitment to sustainability, Safex has installed a 100 KW solar power unit at the plant to meet a portion of its energy needs through renewable sources. The company has also ensured compliance with environmental standards, with a strong focus on Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) through comprehensive training programs across its operations.

With a workforce of over 1,550 employees globally, Safex will add approximately 300 new direct jobs as part of this expansion. The company is also dedicated to community engagement, spearheading CSR initiatives that focus on education, basic amenities, and sports development. Looking ahead, Safex plans to continue evaluating expansion opportunities to meet the increasing demand for its products. The Bharuch facility is poised to become a global benchmark for manufacturing excellence and innovation, further supporting the company’s domestic and international growth ambitions.
