In a significant step forward in India’s renewable energy landscape, Saatvik Solar Industries Private Limited (SSIPL), a subsidiary of Saatvik Green Energy Limited (SGEL), today (June 5, 2025) marked the beginning of its state-of-the-art solar manufacturing plant. The 4.00 GW solar PV module facility, located on 57 acres in Gopalpur, Odisha, will be set up on land leased from Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited (TSSEZL).

The project site is situated along National Highway 16, at Chama Khandi, Gopalpur Industrial Park, Ganjam – 761 020, Odisha. This ambitious project is a cornerstone of SGEL’s growth strategy, and will significantly boost its solar energy production and market presence.

Prashant Mathur, CEO of SGEL, outlined the company’s strategic focus in the renewable energy sector, emphasizing the dual approach of expanding production capacity and improving service offerings. He highlighted the company’s commitment to leading in solar manufacturing and EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) solutions, with a vision to cater to both domestic and international markets. This includes plans to develop a state-of-the-art, integrated solar cell and module manufacturing unit in Odisha, which is projected to start producing solar cells by the end of Fiscal 2027 and modules by Fiscal 2026.

Further enhancing SGEL’s manufacturing footprint, Mr Mathur shared details about the expansion of the company’s Ambala facility, which will add a 1.00 GW production capacity. This expansion is expected to go live in the first quarter of Fiscal 2026. Once both projects are completed, SGEL will have a total solar cell production capacity of 4.80 GW and a combined cell and module production capacity of 8.80 GW across its plants in Ambala and Odisha.

Mr Mathur emphasized that these strategic moves are designed to meet the rising demand for high-quality solar products, positioning SGEL as a leader in the industry. He underscored that this growth is not just about scaling operations but also about reinforcing SGEL’s continuous commitment to innovation and expansion in the renewable energy space, ensuring they remain at the cutting edge of solar technology and solutions. The expansion highlights Saatvik’s long-term dedication to advancing India’s renewable energy objectives through domestic solar manufacturing.

SGEL, based in Gurugram, stands as one of India’s prominent solar module manufacturers. As of February 28, 2025, the company has an operational capacity of approximately 3.80 GW in solar module production. SGEL specializes in Mono PERC and N-TopCon modules, alongside offering EPC services and O&M solutions.
