Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL), a state-owned enterprise, has secured a ₹270-crore contract from Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd for the construction of 10 elevated metro stations as part of Phase 2 of the Nagpur Metro Rail Project. The contract covers seven stations in Reach 3A, including Hingna Mount View, Rajiv Nagar, Wanadongri, APMC, Raipur, Hingna Bus Station, and Hingna, along with three stations in Reach 4A — Pardi, Kapsi Khurd, and Transport Nagar. The project, inclusive of GST, is scheduled for completion within 30 months.
Despite securing new projects, RVNL reported a 27% year-on-year decline in net profit to ₹286.9 crore for the quarter, compared to ₹394.3 crore in the previous year. The drop was attributed to shrinking operating margins and lower earnings. Revenue from operations fell marginally by 1.2% to ₹4,855 crore. EBITDA also dropped 9%, with margins contracting to 5.6% from 6% due to operational challenges.
However, on a sequential basis, RVNL showed improvement, with profits rising by 28.1% and revenue increasing by 19.2% quarter-on-quarter. Tax expenses saw a slight 0.5% year-on-year dip but increased 17.2% compared to the previous quarter.
