RVNL-STEL JV Grabs International Contract Worth Rs 596 Million

A collaborative effort between the state-owned Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) and the private steel player STEL has secured a prestigious international project valued at Rs 59.62 crore (or Rs 596 million). This significant project, awarded by the Energy Development Corporation for the Rwanda Transmission System Reinforcement and Last Mile Connectivity (TSRLMC) project, highlights the growing prowess of Indian companies in the global arena.

The project’s scope encompasses the design, supply, and installation of 45.8 km of 110 KV double circuit Rukarara-Huye-Gisagara transmission lines, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable infrastructure development. This achievement follows closely on the heels of another success for the joint venture, which recently secured a transmission project worth approximately Rs 174 crore in Madhya Pradesh. This project underscores the JV’s expertise and capability in delivering high-quality transmission infrastructure projects.

In a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), RVNL disclosed that it holds a majority stake of 51 per cent in the joint venture, with STEL holding the remaining 49 per cent stake. This partnership exemplifies the synergy between public and private entities in driving impactful infrastructure development projects, both domestically and internationally. In a recent announcement, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) disclosed that it has secured a significant contract from Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Ltd.

This contract entails the complete turnkey construction of 132 KV and 220 KV transmission lines, along with associated feeder bays, in the eastern region of the state. The project, valued at Rs 173.98 crore, is slated for completion within a span of 18 months. Additionally, RVNL revealed in another filing that it has also been awarded a separate contract worth Rs 106.37 crore from M P Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company Ltd. This contract involves the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of a new 11 KV line for bifurcation and interconnection purposes.

Furthermore, the project includes the addition of an 11 KV bay at a 33/11 KV sub-station, as well as the augmentation of conductors for both 33 KV and 11 KV lines.
