Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL), a public sector enterprise, announced on January 15 that it has received a Letter of Acceptance from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) for a major project under the BharatNet initiative. The project focuses on the development, upgrade, and maintenance of the middle-mile network for BharatNet.
In its regulatory filing, RVNL stated that the contract will be executed under the Design-Build-Operate-Maintain (DBOM) model. RVNL will lead the project in collaboration with consortium partners HFCL and ATS.
The total contract value is ₹3,622.14 crore, covering operational expenses over a 10-year maintenance period. The work involves a three-year construction phase followed by maintenance, which is divided into two intervals of five years each.
During the maintenance phase, payments will be made at 5.5% of the capital expenditure for the first five years and 6.5% for the next five years. This project, aligned with RVNL’s core business operations, is expected to strengthen BharatNet’s infrastructure, improving connectivity across India.
