RVNL Latur Factory to Manufacture 1,920 Vande Bharat Sleeper Coaches

Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL) has officially commissioned the Marathwada Rail Coach Factory in Latur, Maharashtra. The factory will manufacture 1,920 sleeper coaches for the Vande Bharat trains and maintain them for the next 35 years, the company announced on Thursday via social media. As a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of Railways, RVNL emphasized that the project will contribute significantly to job creation and skill development in the region.

“This is an important step for Indian Railways as we continue to modernize our railway infrastructure,” the company said in a statement. “With 1,920 Vande Bharat sleeper coaches to be built and maintained over the coming decades, this project will also drive employment and support the broader vision of a developed India by 2047.”

In addition to the factory project, RVNL recently secured contracts worth Rs 202.87 crore from South Eastern Railways. These contracts involve the construction of a 132-kilovolt traction substation, section post, and subsection post for the 2×25 system in the Kharagpur-Bhadrak section under the Kharagpur division, according to a regulatory filing made on August 30.

Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) is a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, established in 2003 to implement and expedite rail infrastructure projects across India. Its primary objective is to execute railway line construction, electrification, and other related infrastructure development initiatives.
