RR Kabel Ltd, a major player in India’s electrical cable and wire sector, has approved a Rs. 1,450 crore investment to scale up manufacturing at its facilities in Waghodia and Silvassa. The decision was finalized by the company’s Board of Directors on 2 May 2025.
At the Waghodia unit, Rs. 1,050 crore will be allocated to raise production capacity by 36,000 metric tonnes (MT), a 54% increase over current levels. The plant currently has a capacity of 67,200 MT, with around 79% of it in use. The expansion, to be completed in stages by March 2028, will be financed through a mix of internal resources and debt.
Meanwhile, the ongoing expansion at the Silvassa plant is also progressing. Phase 1 aims to add 12,000 MT of annual production by March 2026. The board has now approved an additional 6,000 MT of capacity, to be developed in two phases by December 2026. This second phase will involve an investment of Rs. 400 crore, funded similarly through internal accruals and borrowing.
The expansion plans are driven by a growing need for cables and wires, underpinned by trends such as increased renewable energy deployment, a surge in real estate activity, adoption of electric vehicles, and ongoing rural electrification projects.
In its FY-25 investor presentation, RR Kabel highlighted external market momentum in areas like real estate, industrial capital expenditure, data center growth, and renewable energy, as key drivers for business expansion.
RR Kabel aims to achieve an 18% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in its wire and cable segment over the next three financial years. The company views the expansion of its Waghodia and Silvassa facilities as critical to achieving this goal. Alongside capacity growth, the company plans to improve profitability through larger-scale domestic and export sales.
Headquartered in Mumbai, RR Kabel Ltd operates under the umbrella of RR Global. It manufactures a wide range of wires, cables, and fast-moving electrical goods (FMEG), with production sites located in Waghodia and Silvassa. For FY-25, the company reported operational revenue of Rs. 7,618.2 crore.
