Rohde & Schwarz has expanded its oscilloscope range with the launch of the R&S RTB 2, an upgraded version of the highly successful R&S RTB2000. Known for introducing features like touchscreen operation and 10-bit vertical resolution at an entry-level price point, the new R&S RTB 2 builds on this foundation with additional capabilities, including an integrated arbitrary waveform generator and 160 Mpts of segmented memory.
The R&S RTB 2 enhances its predecessor’s performance by incorporating several key upgrades. The newly added waveform generator can produce signals up to 25 MHz and support pattern speeds up to 50 Mbits/s, enabling users to simulate circuit stimuli or emulate missing components. The generator can also import waveforms from CSV files or oscilloscope captures and add noise to simulate real-world conditions. It includes pre-set patterns for popular protocols like I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN/LIN, offering further versatility for engineers.
A standout feature of the R&S RTB 2 is its all-in-one functionality, combining an oscilloscope, protocol analyzer, logic analyzer, waveform generator, and more, making it an ideal tool for engineers, hobbyists, and students working in space-constrained environments. The oscilloscope also includes an education mode with password protection and a built-in web server for remote viewing and control, making it perfect for educational purposes.
The R&S RTB 2’s enhanced memory capabilities, supporting up to 160 Mpoints in segmented mode, enable users to capture more data and perform in-depth troubleshooting. Additionally, the R&S RTB 2-PK1 software option bundle broadens the oscilloscope’s application range, providing enhanced performance.
Philip Diegmann, Vice President of Oscilloscopes at Rohde & Schwarz, commented, “With the R&S RTB 2, we’ve created a highly versatile instrument that delivers solid performance at an accessible price point. It combines features like 10-bit resolution and multi-functionality, offering engineers, students, and educators the tools they need for success.”
The R&S RTB 2 is being showcased at electronica 2024 in Munich (Hall A3.307) from November 12-15, 2024. It is now available through Rohde & Schwarz and select distributors. The oscilloscope comes in two and four-channel models, offering bandwidths of 70 MHz, 100 MHz, 200 MHz, and 300 MHz, with prices starting at €1,690 for the 2-channel 70 MHz model.
