Rohde & Schwarz and TRUMPF SE + Co KG have announced a strategic partnership to create a fully integrated, domestically produced drone defense system. The collaboration will combine Rohde & Schwarz’s expertise in electromagnetic and radar-based drone detection with TRUMPF’s high-energy laser technology, enabling precise detection, tracking, and neutralization of drone threats across multiple platforms. TRUMPF’s laser system will be incorporated into Rohde & Schwarz’s comprehensive drone defense framework, offering customers a complete protective solution.

Dr Hagen Zimer, TRUMPF board member responsible for laser technology, added, “Our laser expertise, advanced beam control, and secure supply chain for system-critical components allow us to deliver an innovative drone defense solution. When combined with Rohde & Schwarz’s detection and defense capabilities, we can offer an integrated system to safeguard sensitive areas and critical infrastructure.” Both companies emphasized that the technology will be employed exclusively for defensive purposes to counter emerging drone threats.
