Rocklink India, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Rocklink Group, has announced the establishment of its first integrated recycling facility in India. Located in the UPSIDC Industrial Area in Sikandrabad, Uttar Pradesh, the facility marks a significant step toward strengthening domestic capabilities in critical material recovery and promoting circular supply chains.
The new facility is equipped to process lithium-ion batteries, rare earth magnets, and metal-bearing industrial waste. It begins operations with an annual lithium-ion battery recycling capacity of 10,000 tonnes and rare earth magnet processing capacity of 60 tonnes per month. Additionally, a rare earth chloride processing line with a capacity of 1,500 tonnes per year is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2026.
Speaking on the development, Leonard Alexander Ansorge, Director of Rocklink India, highlighted the importance of building robust recycling infrastructure for critical materials. He noted that the facility is designed to support India’s growing demand for essential raw materials used in electric mobility, renewable energy, and advanced manufacturing sectors.
The recycling plant, registered under Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), is capable of handling 95 types of pre- and post-consumer battery scrap. It incorporates the company’s proprietary lithium-ion recycling technology, which ensures safe processing of battery waste into reusable materials while eliminating hazardous emissions through advanced treatment systems.
The process enables recovery efficiencies exceeding 98 percent for key metals such as aluminium, copper, and iron, while producing high-quality black mass for further refining. The system is designed to handle a wide range of battery chemistries, sizes, and formats.
In addition to recycling operations, the company plans to introduce battery refurbishment capabilities. This initiative will allow the reuse of viable battery cells through standardized testing and remanufacturing processes, extending product life cycles and enhancing resource utilization.
The facility also includes specialized infrastructure for recycling rare earth magnets, including NdFeB, SmCo, and AlNiCo alloys commonly used in industrial and clean energy applications. Semi-automated dismantling systems will improve processing efficiency and traceability.
Rocklink India is also introducing its reverse logistics model to the Indian market, enabling structured collection and channeling of magnet scrap. The company’s “Know Your Material” framework further supports precise material assessment and optimized recycling pathways through in-house testing and analysis.
Through ongoing collaborations with research institutions, startups, and government bodies, Rocklink India aims to enhance recycling efficiency and contribute to building resilient supply chains for critical materials in India. Rocklink India Pvt Ltd is part of the Rocklink Group and specializes in advanced recycling solutions for lithium-ion batteries, rare earth magnets, and industrial waste. The company focuses on sustainable resource management through technology-driven processes and strategic partnerships.
