ROBOTGAMES: The New Contest of UCIMU Academy for Young Innovators

ROBOTGAMES

The culminating phase of the competition is set to occur during the 34th BI-MU, a biennial showcase featuring machine tools, robotics, and automation, slated to run from October 9 to 12, 2024, at fieramilano Rho. Participants stand a chance to win prizes totaling 20,000 euros.

UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, the association representing Italian manufacturers of machine tools, robots, and automation systems, together with the UCIMU Foundation and EFIM-ENTE FIERE ITALIANE MACCHINE, the organizers of the 34.BI-MU event, supported by the Fiera Milano Foundation, are delighted to introduce ROBOTGAMES.

This innovative robotics and automation competition is designed to engage young students from scientific high schools, technical-technological institutes, and professional schools, encouraging them to explore the creation of robot automation prototypes with applications in industry.

ROBOTGAMES focuses on teams of students from upper secondary schools, comprised of 2 to 5 students, each led by a coordinating teacher. The contest requires prototypes to integrate at least two technical disciplines such as mechanics, automation, electronics, physics, and mathematics-informatics.

These prototypes should be capable of performing various tasks and responding to different commands, such as moving objects, detecting elements in their environment, and navigating through space. A fundamental criterion for a prototype’s eligibility is its potential industrial application.

This initiative is part of the UCIMU Academy’s efforts to connect young people with the manufacturing industry, which is currently undergoing significant digital transformation. Sponsored by the UCIMU Foundation and with support from the Fiera Milano Foundation, ROBOTGAMES will debut in 2024, coinciding with the 34.BI-MU event scheduled to be held at fieramilano Rho from 9 to 12 October.

This international biennial exhibition of machine tools, robotics, automation, digital, and additive manufacturing will host the final stage of the ROBOTGAMES contest. In addition to the trade show, which will showcase machines and production systems under 8 exhibition themes including RobotHeart for robots, piùAdditive for additive manufacturing, and BI-MU Digital for digital technologies, the event will feature a special educational project highlighting ROBOTGAMES.

The final stage of the competition will take place on Friday, 11 October, where the top 10 projects will compete in an area dedicated to ROBOTGAMES within one of the halls of 34.BI-MU. A panel of judges will select the top 3 winners, who will be honored during a special ceremony in the BI-MUpiù Arena at 34.BI-MU on Saturday, 12 October.

The total prize pool of 20,000 euros, provided by EFIM-ENTE FIERE ITALIANE MACCHINE, will be distributed among the three winning teams. This exciting competition not only encourages innovation in robotics and automation but also fosters a deeper connection between young talents and the evolving landscape of the manufacturing industry.
