Sweden’s Robot System Products (RSP), a leading provider of industrial robot peripherals, has inaugurated its first manufacturing facility outside of Sweden in Chennai, India, through its subsidiary, Scandinavian Robot Systems India Private Limited.
The subsidiary began operations in November 2023 in Tamil Nadu, a key automotive manufacturing region in India. Since then, RSP has been supplying a wide range of robotic accessories to customers across the country.
In 2024, the company saw notable growth, particularly in India’s automotive and Tier-1 automotive supplier sectors. To better serve its clients, RSP also opened a branch office in Pune, further strengthening its presence in the western region of India.
The Chennai facility will focus on manufacturing critical robot accessories, including automatic tool changers, swivels, tool parking stands, and cable and hose management systems. The company will leverage its established supplier network in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka to ensure high-quality production.
RSP’s expansion comes as India’s industrial robot market continues to surge. According to the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), India experienced the fastest growth in industrial robot installations globally in 2023, with a 50% increase, reaching 8,500 units. This rapid growth has made India the 10th largest robotics market in the world.

Founded in 2003 following a management buyout from ABB, RSP designs products that enhance manufacturing flexibility and reliability across major robot brands. Their flagship products, such as automatic tool changers, enable robots to efficiently switch between different tools—like grippers, welders, and drills—without downtime, thereby boosting productivity.
