Rheinmetall Acquires Loc Performance in $950 Million Deal

German defense company Rheinmetall has announced its acquisition of U.S.-based military vehicle parts manufacturer Loc Performance for $950 million. The Michigan-based Loc Performance is known for producing track systems for the U.S. Army’s ground vehicles.

Rheinmetall’s purchase of Loc Performance is aimed at strengthening its industrial presence in the United States. The acquisition positions Rheinmetall to compete for significant contracts with the U.S. Army, including the XM30 and common tactical truck programs, which have a combined value exceeding $60 billion, according to the company’s statement.

Loc Performance’s expertise in manufacturing track systems, rubber and armor products, and fabricated structures for various vehicles, including military, agricultural, and transportation, is expected to align well with Rheinmetall’s goals for meeting the critical production demands of these large-scale military programs.
