Renault Group, Volvo Group and CMA CGM Group have signed a binding agreement enabling Renault Group to acquire full ownership of Flexis SAS, the joint venture created in 2024 to develop a new generation of electric vans. The transaction remains subject to customary antitrust approvals. Under the agreement, Renault Group will acquire Volvo Group’s 45 percent stake and CMA CGM Group’s 10 percent stake in Flexis. Completion is expected by the end of the first half of 2026, pending regulatory clearance.

Following the transaction, Renault Group will assume full responsibility for the development and industrialization of the fully electric light commercial vehicle range conceived under Flexis. Production remains on track to begin by the end of 2026, in line with the original roadmap.

The governance change does not affect the project’s product ambitions or industrial strategy. Since its inception, Flexis has focused on delivering a breakthrough electric medium van platform tailored to the needs of urban logistics and accelerating decarbonization. The program is built on advanced technologies, including a dedicated skateboard platform, an 800-volt powertrain architecture and a Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) framework designed to enable connected services and continuous upgrades.

Renault Group will continue advancing the program with its engineering and manufacturing teams across France. Approximately 1,300 employees are currently contributing to the project at sites in the Île-de-France region, including the Guyancourt Technocentre and the Villiers-Saint-Frédéric Light Commercial Vehicle Center of Excellence. Industrialization will take place at the Group’s Sandouville plant in Normandy.

The first vehicle in the new range, the Renault Trafic Van E-Tech electric, is scheduled for launch from late 2026. From 2027 onward, Volvo Group, through Renault Trucks, will distribute the vehicles, maintaining the long-standing cooperation between Renault Group and Renault Trucks in the light commercial vehicle segment.

CMA CGM Group, which supported the initiative during its development phase, reaffirmed its commitment to the energy transition and to advancing low-carbon logistics solutions. With operations in more than 100 countries and global sales of over 2.3 million vehicles in 2025, Renault Group continues to accelerate its transformation toward electrification and sustainable mobility, targeting carbon neutrality in Europe by 2040 and globally by 2050.
