Regreen-Excel EPC India Limited is proud to announce the successful supply and commissioning of a Corn Oil Extraction Unit at Seas Biotech Private Limited, Goalpara, Assam. The unit was commissioned successfully on the first attempt, further demonstrating the company’s engineering excellence and execution capabilities.
Corn oil is recovered from the thin stillage stream in a corn ethanol plant after fermentation and distillation, but prior to drying the DDGS (Dried Distillers Grains with Solubles) co-product. The process, typically using centrifugation, separates oil from solids, making it a valuable feedstock for biodiesel and other applications while enhancing the efficiency of ethanol production.
Recovering corn oil from ethanol production offers several significant benefits for producers. One of the primary advantages is increased revenue, as it creates an additional income stream by capturing valuable oil that would otherwise remain in the process. This also enhances the quality of Distillers Dried Grains with Solubles (DDGS), a key byproduct used in animal feed. By reducing fat content and increasing protein concentration, the resulting feed becomes more nutritious and marketable.
Additionally, corn oil serves as a valuable feedstock for the production of biodiesel and green diesel, supporting the growing demand for renewable fuels. Its use in biofuel applications not only diversifies the product output of ethanol plants but also contributes to environmental goals. Furthermore, the integration of corn oil recovery can improve overall plant energy efficiency and operational sustainability, making it a strategic enhancement for modern ethanol facilities.
The newly commissioned unit at Seas Biotech not only enhances plant profitability but also contributes to India’s renewable energy and sustainability goals. This milestone follows Regreen-Excel’s earlier success with Seas Biotech, where the company executed a state-of-the-art EPC project comprising a Grain Ethanol Process Plant, Biomass Power Plant, and Water & Wastewater Management Plant. The facilities continue to operate with outstanding performance.
