Redwing, an Indian leader in drone-based instant logistics, has announced the acquisition of assets from Aerit, a Swedish startup specializing in autonomous drone delivery technology. This move significantly boosts Redwing’s presence in Europe, helping the company expand into one of the fastest-growing markets for drone logistics.
Aerit had gained recognition for its collaboration with Foodora in 2024 and for receiving the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) SAIL II permits to operate in Sweden. The company became the first to complete commercial food deliveries via drone in Sweden, using technology developed by a team of engineers from Spotify, Scania Group, and PhDs.
With this acquisition, Redwing integrates Aerit’s cutting-edge autonomous flight system, “Stewie,” into its operations. The new technology enhances Redwing’s capabilities, enabling the rapid deployment of advanced drones that can meet the evolving demands of the logistics industry. Aerit’s drone systems are known for their high safety standards, operational reliability, and efficiency—key factors in ensuring scalability and commercial success in drone logistics.
This strategic move reinforces Redwing’s commitment to leading innovation in the Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone logistics sector. With over 300,000 kilometers of BVLOS flight experience, Redwing has proven its ability to operate in challenging conditions, including adverse weather, hilly terrains, and coastal winds. The acquisition of Aerit further strengthens Redwing’s ability to provide reliable, regulatory-compliant drone-based solutions across Europe.
Anshul Sharma, co-founder of Redwing, stated, “The acquisition of Aerit marks a critical milestone for Redwing, expanding our BVLOS capabilities and enhancing our machine learning-based flight routing technology. Combining Aerit’s advanced technology and European market footprint with our experience in scalable, autonomous drone logistics positions us for continued success.”
Redwing is a Bangalore-based company specializing in BVLOS drone technology. They design, build, and operate drones capable of long-distance travel for logistics and other applications. Redwing’s team has won 12 industry awards from major organizations such as NASA, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and Airbus, and was recognized in Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia.
