Realme, a leading Chinese smartphone brand, has joined hands with Optiemus Electronics Ltd (OEL) to locally manufacture its next generation of AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) products in India. The collaboration supports the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative and comes at a time when global manufacturers are adjusting supply chains amid shifting trade policies and rising demand for domestic production capabilities.
Under the partnership, Realme and Optiemus plan to produce up to 5 million AIoT devices annually. The initiative is expected to create over 2,000 jobs and further develop India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
As part of its long-term strategy, Realme aims to bring the entire production of its AIoT product range—including smartwatches, earphones, and tablets—within India’s borders. Key product lines such as the Realme Buds T200, Buds Wireless, and Buds Air series are set to begin local production later this year.
The company is also working to increase domestic sourcing of essential components like PCBAs, batteries, mechanical parts, cables, and chargers, further reducing reliance on imports and strengthening the local supply chain. In addition to serving the domestic market, Realme is exploring export opportunities for its Made-in-India AIoT products, positioning India as both a manufacturing hub and a center for global distribution. The partnership is expected to enhance local manufacturing capabilities and support the development of a skilled workforce aligned with high-volume, high-quality production standards.
