Re Sustainability and Recycling Private Limited (ReSRL), a subsidiary of Re Sustainability Limited (ReSL), and Aarti Circularity Limited (ACL), a wholly owned unit of Aarti Industries Limited (AIL), have partnered to launch a pioneering joint venture aimed at transforming plastic recycling in India. The initiative focuses on establishing advanced Plastic Materials Recycling Facilities (PMRFs) across the country, setting new benchmarks in resource recovery and sustainable waste management.

With an initial investment of ₹100 crore, the first facility will be set up in Hyderabad to process and recycle plastic waste, converting it into Advanced Circular Materials (ACM) that can serve as raw materials, fuel sources, or polymer feedstock. The joint venture aims to achieve a daily resource recovery capacity of at least 500 tons by 2030, utilizing diverse waste streams, including materials from ReSL’s existing operations, to enhance circularity in materials and energy use.

The first PMRF is expected to be operational within 15 to 18 months and will be a significant step forward in India’s sustainable waste management efforts. This collaboration highlights a shared vision for sustainability, innovation, and scalable recycling solutions. The joint entity will engage leading technology partners to develop and operate cutting-edge facilities, positioning India as a leader in plastic waste recycling. The venture is projected to generate ₹5,000 crore in revenue over the next five years, addressing the growing demand for recycled polymers.

Masood Mallick, Managing Director & CEO of Re Sustainability, emphasized the importance of the partnership, stating, “This collaboration strengthens our commitment to sustainable resource management. By integrating our expertise in waste management with Aarti Industries’ deep experience in specialty chemicals, we aim to develop state-of-the-art infrastructure to tackle critical waste challenges. Our focus on advanced technologies and sustainability will drive economic growth while minimizing environmental impact.”

Mirik Gogri, Director of Aarti Circularity Limited, added, “This venture is a game-changer in plastic recycling, bringing together the strengths of two leading organizations to create a sustainable impact. Our goal is to drive a circular economy by reducing waste, minimizing dependency on virgin resources, and mitigating environmental harm.”

For every 100 tons of ACM produced, approximately 200 tons of municipal waste will be processed, making this partnership instrumental in addressing India’s plastic waste challenges. Currently, Re Sustainability handles 9 million tons of waste annually and recycles 9 lakh tons of plastic waste through its facilities, reinforcing its leadership in sustainable waste solutions.

Re Sustainability Limited (ReSL) is a KKR-backed environmental management company, offering integrated waste management and resource recovery solutions. With over 100 operational sites in India, the Middle East, Africa, and North America, ReSL has a workforce of 22,000+ professionals dedicated to sustainability and circular economy initiatives.

Aarti Industries Limited (AIL) is a leading global player in the specialty chemicals sector, ranked among the top four manufacturers for 75% of its product portfolio. Committed to sustainable growth, AIL integrates advanced technology and infrastructure to deliver solutions that balance business expansion with environmental responsibility. This strategic partnership marks a major milestone in India’s journey toward a sustainable and circular economy, setting new standards in plastic waste recycling and environmental stewardship.
