ZF Rane Automotive India Pvt Ltd, a joint venture between the Rane Group and ZF Group, is set to introduce rack-drive electric power steering (EPS) technologies to the Indian market. Additionally, the two companies have entered into a licensing agreement for Column Drive Electric Power Steering System technology, which will be exclusively used by Rane Steering Systems in India.
This collaboration enables Rane and ZF to offer a complete range of electric power steering solutions to meet the diverse needs of the Indian automotive market, according to a company statement. ZF Rane Automotive India also manufactures hydraulic steering gear systems, seatbelts, and airbags.
Rane Group Chairman, Harish Lakshman, expressed that the partnership would bring advanced steering technologies to India, improving safety, comfort, and performance for local customers. He highlighted the importance of the collaboration in strengthening their position as a full-range steering systems supplier.
ZF Rane Automotive India operates three manufacturing plants in Tiruchirapally, Chennai, and Rudrapur for hydraulic power steering systems, and in March, the joint venture fully acquired steering wheels manufacturer TRW Sun Steering Wheels. Theodor Kaster, head of global steering product line at ZF Group, emphasized that this new phase of the partnership would further expand the availability of state-of-the-art electric power steering systems for Indian customers.
