In a visionary address at the 38th Convocation Day of SASTRA DEEMED UNIVERSITY, P R Venketrama Raja, Chairman of the Ramco Group, emphasized that India’s future economic growth to a $30 trillion economy by 2047 hinges not just on wage advantages but predominantly on technological advancements. He underscored that the cornerstone for this technological evolution is creative collaboration among students, highlighting its vital role in ensuring India remains at the forefront of global innovation.

Raja elaborated on the importance of fostering a culture of creative collaboration, noting that it is essential for India to maintain its competitive edge. He stressed that this approach is crucial as the country gears up to leverage a significant opportunity presented by the government’s ambitious plan to invest 5 percent of its GDP into infrastructure development over the next five years.

This substantial investment in infrastructure is seen as a catalyst for progress, particularly for the younger generation of graduates poised to enter the workforce. The Chairman observed that the blending of various disciplines—ranging from engineering, law, and social sciences to management—was revolutionizing the fields of design and development. This interdisciplinary convergence is reshaping how technology and solutions are conceived, developed, and implemented, thus opening new avenues for innovation and growth.

During the convocation ceremony, a total of 4,100 graduates were awarded their degrees in various fields including Engineering, Sciences, Management, Law, Education, and Humanities. Among the distinguished recipients, Dr B Harishbabu, Dr Bhavana Sivakumar, and Dr Raghunath Dos were honored with the Founder-Chancellor’s Best Doctoral Thesis Award for their exceptional Ph.D. theses in Engineering, Sciences, and non-STEM disciplines, respectively.
