Larsen and Toubro (L&T), one of India’s leading engineering and construction conglomerates, announced on Thursday the elevation of R Shankar Raman to the position of President. Raman, who currently serves as the company’s whole-time Director and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), will now assume additional responsibilities as President.
In his expanded role, R Shankar Raman will continue to oversee the financial operations of Larsen & Toubro while also taking on broader strategic responsibilities within the organization. His elevation reflects the company’s confidence in his leadership and expertise in driving growth and profitability.
Additionally, Subramanian Sarma, the Senior Executive Vice President (EVP) of Energy at Larsen & Toubro, has been promoted to the position of whole-time Director and President of the Energy division. Sarma’s new role will involve overseeing the hydrocarbon, power, and green manufacturing and development businesses within the Energy sector.
R Shankar Raman brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having joined the L&T Group in November 1994 to establish L&T Finance Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary. Over the years, he has played a pivotal role in the company’s financial management and strategic decision-making. With a background in chemical engineering, Raman’s expertise has been instrumental in shaping L&T’s financial policies and driving sustainable growth.
Subramanian Sarma, a seasoned executive with over 40 years of experience, has been a key leader within L&T’s Energy division. His extensive knowledge and leadership skills have been instrumental in driving the growth and success of the company’s energy-related businesses, both in India and abroad.
