Quectel Launches KCMA32S Zigbee & BLE Module for Smart Lighting and IoT Networks

Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global leader in IoT technology, has introduced the KCMA32S, a high-performance MCU module designed for IoT applications like smart lighting, building automation, and home networks. This compact yet powerful module combines Zigbee 3.0 and BLE 5.3 support, offering multi-protocol connectivity and efficient communication for a variety of use cases.

The KCMA32S is powered by Silicon Labs’ low-power EFR32MG21 wireless SoC, running on an ARM Cortex-M33 processor with a frequency of up to 80 MHz. With flexible memory options, including configurations of 64 KB RAM with 768 KB flash or 96 KB SRAM with 1 MB flash, the module is well-suited for a wide range of IoT solutions.

A standout feature of the KCMA32S is its Zigbee/BLE mesh networking support, enabling greater scalability and connectivity through mesh topology, ideal for large-scale installations like smart lighting and home/building networks. Enhanced security features, such as Secure Vault, further ensure robust protection for IoT systems.

The module’s ultra-compact design (20.0 mm × 12.0 mm × 2.2 mm) in a LCC + LGA form factor makes it an ideal choice for diverse product designs, providing both size efficiency and cost-effectiveness. It also offers up to 20 GPIOs, which can be used for a variety of interfaces such as I2C, UART, SPI, and I2S, further enhancing its versatility.

This module offers robust support for Zigbee 3.0 and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5.3 with the ability to run both protocols simultaneously. It comes with flexible memory configurations, including options for 64 KB RAM with 768 KB flash or 96 KB SRAM with 1024 KB flash, catering to diverse application needs. Featuring Zigbee and BLE mesh networking capabilities, it ensures reliable connectivity in complex environments. The module also includes 20 general-purpose I/O pins compatible with interfaces such as I2C, UART, SPI, and I2S.

Engineered to perform in harsh conditions, it operates efficiently across a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
