In a major development for the global aviation sector, Qatar Airways has finalized an agreement to acquire up to 210 widebody jets from Boeing, marking the largest order of its kind for the U.S. manufacturer. The purchase includes a significant number of 787 Dreamliners as well as additional 777-9 aircraft, representing Qatar Airways’ biggest aircraft order to date and a milestone for Boeing’s widebody programs.

This deal is expected to support approximately 400,000 jobs across the United States and signals a major investment in fleet expansion and modernization for the Doha-based airline, known for its premium services and international reach. The agreement was signed in the presence of U.S. President Donald J. Trump and His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar. Joining them were senior aviation leaders including Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg, Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO Stephanie Pope, and Qatar Airways Group CEO Engr Badr Mohammed Al-Meer.

“This agreement marks a new chapter for Qatar Airways as we commit to building the most advanced and efficient fleet in the skies,” said Engr Badr Mohammed Al-Meer. “With this order, we’re investing in growth, sustainability, and our ability to deliver unmatched service and global connectivity.” Stephanie Pope added, “Qatar Airways has once again demonstrated its leadership and vision with this record-setting order. We are proud to play a key role in supporting their future fleet strategy.”

Qatar Airways already operates more than 150 aircraft from Boeing, including 777 and 787 passenger jets, along with 777 Freighters. Once completed, this transaction will make Qatar Airways the largest operator of the Dreamliner in the Middle East. Qatar Airways has been consistently recognized for its world-class service, earning the title of World’s Best Airline for the eighth time in 2024, according to Skytrax. The airline has also been honored for offering the best business class, best airline lounge, and leading service in the Middle East.

The airline serves more than 170 global destinations, connecting through its award-winning hub at Hamad International Airport in Doha. The airport has been named World’s Best Airport multiple times, as well as the Best in the Middle East for a decade straight.

Qatar Airways is also a leader in sustainability and environmental stewardship. It was the first Middle Eastern airline certified to the highest level under the IATA Environmental Assessment (IEnvA) program. Additionally, it was the first carrier to meet international standards for preventing illegal wildlife trafficking in air transport, as a signatory to the Buckingham Palace Declaration.
