PURE, a company specializing in energy storage and electric mobility, unveiled its 5 MWh battery storage system, named PuREPower Grid, in Delhi on Wednesday. This innovative containerized solution comes with integrated solar capabilities and advanced power conversion systems aimed at boosting grid stability and facilitating renewable energy integration.

The product has already garnered interest from over 10 renewable energy EPC companies and major industrial players. PURE’s new system incorporates high-density batteries, cutting-edge power electronics, and AI-powered cloud monitoring.

“PuREPower Grid will play a key role in stabilizing the grid and enabling the smooth integration of renewable energy,” said Dr. NishanthDongari during the launch. The company also highlighted the system’s ability to support fast-charging infrastructure for electric vehicles without the need for costly upgrades to transformers or distribution systems.

India’s battery storage market is projected to reach $36 billion by 2030, fueled by the country’s renewable energy goals, including a 500 GW capacity target and an estimated requirement of over 200 GWh of storage by the end of the decade. These developments are part of India’s broader efforts to modernize its energy infrastructure and transition to cleaner power.

The new system features a multi-level cooling design, utilizing phase-change materials at the cell level and liquid cooling at the pack and rack levels. This design is intended to extend battery life and improve overall efficiency. PURE sees the new grid storage solution as a complementary addition to its existing range of home and commercial storage products.

PURE was founded at the Innovation and Technology Incubation Center at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad. The company has developed over 100 intellectual property assets and operates a network of 80 dealerships across India, serving around 80,000 customers.

This launch comes as India works to overcome grid reliability challenges while scaling up its renewable energy capacity. Battery storage systems are increasingly crucial for managing the variability of renewable sources like solar and wind, allowing for more efficient integration into the power grid.
