PURE EV, a leading Indian manufacturer of electric two-wheelers, has made significant strides in sustainability by integrating renewable energy solutions at its Telangana facility. The company has deployed a 125 KW solar power system alongside a 500 KWh energy storage system (ESS), resulting in a 60% reduction in electricity expenses and a 65% drop in diesel generator (DG) fuel costs compared to the previous year.
The solar power installation has enabled PURE EV to reduce its reliance on grid electricity, while the ESS, built entirely from refurbished batteries collected through a battery exchange program, further enhances cost savings. Customers exchanged older batteries for high-performance, fifth-generation units, with the refurbished batteries repurposed for energy storage, promoting a circular economy in EV battery usage.
The integration of solar, grid, and DG systems with the ESS has also lowered peak load charges by 50%, boosting operational efficiency. PURE EV sees this initiative as a major step toward achieving its long-term sustainability and cost-optimization goals.
Dr Nishanth Dongari, Founder and Managing Director of PURE EV, highlighted the dual benefits of integrating renewable energy, stating, “Combining solar power with advanced energy storage not only supports environmental sustainability but also delivers economic gains by reducing dependence on non-renewable resources.”
PURE EV plans to scale its renewable energy efforts further by FY 2026, aiming to install an additional 125 KW solar system and increase ESS capacity by another 500 KWh, advancing its commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions.
