On July 14, 2024, Pune’s airport transformation reached a significant milestone, with the inaugural flight departing from its new terminal. The expansion of Pune Airport, a project undertaken despite being a Defence Airport, has been eagerly anticipated by local citizens. With the digital inauguration already completed before the general elections, the physical launch was marked by the presence of the Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Pune MP Murlidhar Mohol, signalling a new era in regional air travel.
The new terminal began operations with nine arrivals and nine departures scheduled for the first day, featuring flights from Air India and Air India Express. IndiGo is also expected to commence operations from the new facility within a week. The transition to the new terminal, equipped with modern amenities for passenger convenience, precedes the renovation of the existing terminal.
EKA 9’s are now plying at Pune Airport: Arihant Mehta

In an innovative move to enhance passenger experience and operational efficiency, the authorities introduced the EKA 9 electric bus for shuttling passengers to the AeroMall, which became operational last year. This green transportation solution by EKA, a subsidiary of Pinnacle Industries Ltd, emphasizes sustainable, new energy commercial vehicles. The EKA 9 is noted for its passenger comfort, featuring a wide body, comfortable seating arrangement, and advanced safety measures, including auto drive capabilities and a comprehensive air filtration system.
