Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the fourth edition of SEMICON India 2025 on 2 September at Yashobhoomi (India International Convention and Expo Centre), New Delhi. The event will bring together global semiconductor leaders, industry experts, academia, government officials, and students, reaffirming India’s vision of becoming a major force in the global semiconductor industry.
Under the Semicon India Programme, the Government of India has cleared 10 key projects in areas such as high-volume fabrication (Fabs), compound semiconductors (including SiC), outsourced assembly and test (OSATs), and advanced packaging. These initiatives mark significant progress in embedding India into the global semiconductor value chain.
In addition, over 280 academic institutions and 72 start-ups have received access to advanced design tools. Twenty-three start-ups have been approved under the Design Linked Incentive (DLI) Scheme to develop chips for applications including CCTV, navigation, motor control, communications, and microprocessors—laying the foundation for a self-reliant semiconductor ecosystem.
Organized by SEMI, in partnership with the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) under the Ministry of Electronics and IT, SEMICON India 2025 will focus on the theme Building the Next Semiconductor Powerhouse. The three-day event will feature discussions on fabs, smart manufacturing, advanced packaging, AI, supply chains, sustainability, design, workforce development, and startups, alongside six international country roundtables.
The exhibition will feature nearly 350 global exhibitors, including four country pavilions, nine state delegations, and six country roundtables. With more than 15,000 visitors expected, it will be South Asia’s largest platform for the semiconductor and electronics sectors.
“SEMICON India brings the combined expertise of global leaders in semiconductor design and manufacturing to accelerate India’s ecosystem,” said Ajit Manocha, President & CEO of SEMI. “The event will feature world-class networking, business opportunities, and insights from industry visionaries.”
The conference will host high-profile keynotes, panel discussions, fireside chats, technical paper presentations, and workforce development sessions. A dedicated Workforce Development Pavilion will highlight career opportunities in microelectronics and attract new talent into the sector.
Executives and experts from top global firms—including Applied Materials, ASML, IBM, Infineon, KLA, Lam Research, MERCK, Micron, PSMC, Rapidus, Sandisk, Siemens, SK Hynix, Tata Electronics, and Tokyo Electron—will join government leaders and policymakers in shaping the dialogue.
“India’s semiconductor sector is at a breakthrough moment, with policy support and private sector investments aligning to drive global competitiveness,” said Ashok Chandak, President, SEMI India and IESA. “SEMICON India 2025 will act as a catalyst for collaboration and growth.”
SEMI® is the global industry association representing more than 3,000 companies and 1.5 million professionals in the electronics design and manufacturing supply chain. It drives collaboration in advocacy, workforce development, sustainability, and supply chain resilience.
The India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, is the implementing agency of the Semicon India Programme. ISM facilitates proposals, manages incentives, and coordinates with stakeholders to build a globally competitive semiconductor and display ecosystem, ensuring India’s economic and technological security.
