Construction technology platform Powerplay has reported up to fourfold growth in platform spending among customers using its artificial intelligence (AI) agents over approximately 18 months. The comparison is based on the same customers’ spending before and after adopting the AI tools.

Powerplay is developing an AI workforce to help contractors and builders manage procurement, project requirements and financing-related tasks. Its AI Purchase Executive helps contractors compare supplier prices, track material requirements and check purchase orders against project budgets. The AI Credit Analyst helps organise project information and financing documents for credit applications submitted through lending partners. The two agents are designed to connect procurement requirements with working-capital options through banks and non-banking financial companies (NBFCs). Lending decisions remain with the respective financial institutions.

“For a contractor, procurement and finance cannot work in isolation. The team needs to know what a project requires, what materials will cost and whether the funds will be available when payments are due. We are building an AI workforce that can take on much of the coordination involved in these decisions, using the project data already available on Powerplay. By bringing procurement and financing together, we want to help contractors and builders across India manage their day-to-day operations more efficiently,” said Iesh Dixit, Co-founder and CEO of Powerplay.

The company’s annualised marketplace transaction volume has increased from approximately ₹36 crore to around ₹100 crore over the past year. Financing volume facilitated through lending partners has grown more than eightfold during the same period, although it remains at an early stage and is currently concentrated in four cities.

Powerplay’s growth comes as India continues to invest in infrastructure. According to the India Brand Equity Foundation’s infrastructure overview, the Union Budget for FY2026–27 provides ₹12.22 lakh crore for infrastructure capital investment. Contractors working across the country continue to manage material procurement, supplier payments and access to working capital alongside project execution.

Powerplay has more than 40,000 construction firms and 85,000 projects represented on its platform. The company is expanding its role from project tracking towards procurement and financing support, with the aim of bringing more routine construction-business activities onto one platform.

Founded by Iesh Dixit and Shubham Goyal, Bengaluru-based Powerplay serves construction firms across India. Its investors include Accel, Peak XV Surge and India Quotient. The company’s AI agents are designed to support contractors with estimating, procurement, planning and finance-related tasks.
