PMI Electro Mobility, a prominent player in the electric bus sector, has made its debut in Delhi by introducing two state-of-the-art electric ‘Mohalla Buses.’ The launch was officiated by Delhi’s Urban Development Minister, Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj, and Delhi Legislative Assembly members Shri Somnath Bharti and Smt. Parmila Tokas, with buses being flagged off from Nehru Place and Vasant Vihar Metro Stations. This initiative represents a significant step forward in Delhi’s transition to sustainable and accessible public transport.

Delhi, a city with heavy traffic and a growing need for reliable transportation, is leading the way in adopting green mobility solutions. PMI Electro Mobility’s new 9-meter air-conditioned, low-floor electric buses are designed to improve last-mile connectivity, making previously hard-to-reach areas within the city more accessible. This launch underscores the Delhi Government’s commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology into its public transport system.

Dr. Aanchal Jain, CEO of PMI Electro Mobility Solutions Pvt. Ltd., expressed enthusiasm about the company’s entry into the Delhi market. “We are thrilled to bring our electric buses to one of India’s most dynamic and forward-thinking cities. This launch highlights PMI Electro Mobility’s dedication to supporting the Delhi Government’s vision of a sustainable public transport system. We extend our sincere thanks to Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj, Shri Somnath Bharti, and Smt. Parmila Tokas for flagging off the buses under this pilot project. This milestone is crucial in our journey toward safer, cleaner, and greener transportation, contributing significantly to India’s ambitious Net Zero mission.”

The launch event, held at the Nehru Place and Vasant Vihar Metro Stations, showcased the buses’ advanced safety features, including emergency stop buttons, in-built CCTV cameras for continuous monitoring, ramps for passengers with special needs, and a robust fire extinguisher system. These features ensure that the new fleet not only supports environmental sustainability but also provides a secure and comfortable travel experience for passengers.

The pilot project will see these Mohalla Buses operating from Vasant Vihar and Nehru Place Metro Stations, covering key areas like Race Course, South Campus, Kailash Colony, Chirag Delhi, Sheikh Sarai, and various other Metro stations in South Delhi. Thanks to their compact size and agility, these buses can easily navigate narrow streets, enhancing last-mile connectivity and making public transportation more accessible to Delhi’s residents. Moreover, women passengers will enjoy free travel, further promoting the inclusivity of this initiative.

This launch marks just the beginning of PMI Electro Mobility’s broader plans for Delhi. The new 24-seater electric buses, equipped with fast-charging lithium-ion batteries and modern amenities such as a Real-Time Passenger Information System (PIS), panic buttons, and a Vehicle Location & Tracking System, are designed to meet the demands of urban commuting while significantly reducing Delhi’s carbon footprint.

Over the next year, these zero-emission vehicles are expected to cut down over 650 tons of CO2 emissions, highlighting the environmental impact of this initiative. Initial estimates suggest that around 3,000 passengers will benefit from this service daily, making a noticeable improvement to the city’s public transport network.

As PMI Electro Mobility collaborates with the Delhi Government in this green mobility effort, the company is set to play a crucial role in aligning the capital with global efforts to combat climate change. The introduction of these electric buses in Delhi marks a significant milestone in the city’s journey toward sustainable and inclusive public transportation. The event was attended by key dignitaries, government officials, and senior executives from PMI Electro Mobility, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Delhi’s public transport system.
