PM Narendra Modi has opened the India Energy Week 2024 in Goa. This event signifies the kickoff of India’s premier energy exhibition and conference, drawing together pivotal figures from various sectors of the energy industry. The objective of this gathering is to accelerate India’s ambitious plans for transitioning towards sustainable energy sources.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address at the inauguration ceremony, welcomed attendees to the second iteration of India Energy Week, highlighting the vibrant ambiance and natural allure of Goa as an ideal setting for discussions centered on sustainable development and environmental consciousness. He underscored India’s commendable economic growth, surpassing global GDP estimates, and projected an optimistic path for the nation’s future.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized India’s pivotal role in the global energy sphere, noting its status as the third-largest consumer of energy, oil, and LPG worldwide, alongside its involvement in LNG importation and refining. He outlined India’s escalating demand for electric vehicles and laid out strategies to meet the anticipated doubling of energy demand by 2045.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delineated India’s commitment to expanding its energy infrastructure, citing financial allocations and targets to elevate the gas share in the country’s energy portfolio. He also stressed India’s dedication to promoting renewable energy sources, backed by investments and initiatives aimed at augmenting solar and biofuel capacities.

In line with the government’s prioritization of environmental sustainability and circular economy principles, PM Narendra Modi reiterated India’s resolve to curtail carbon emissions and achieve net-zero emissions by 2070. He highlighted the transformative potential of initiatives like the National Green Hydrogen Mission and the widespread adoption of solar energy solutions.

PM Narendra Modi underscored the significance of the India Energy Week event, portraying it as a manifestation of India’s commitment to global cooperation and collaboration in the energy sector, encapsulating the ethos of ‘India with the world and India for the world.’ He urged stakeholders to utilize the platform for knowledge exchange, technological innovation, and fostering sustainable energy development.

The inauguration saw the presence of dignitaries including the Governor of Goa, P.S. Sreedharan Pillai, Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, and Union Minister of State for Petroleum, Oil, and Natural Gas, Rameswar Teli, among others.

With a keen focus on nurturing innovation and integrating startups into the energy value chain, India Energy Week 2024 is poised to act as a catalyst for advancing India’s energy autonomy and sustainability objectives. The event is anticipated to witness substantial participation from energy ministers, industry leaders, and stakeholders, with more than 900 exhibitors showcasing cutting-edge solutions and technologies.
