PM Modi to Announce Projects Worth Rs 11,600 Crore in Assam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch a range of developmental initiatives in Assam worth about Rs 11,600 crore. Prime Minister Modi will reveal numerous state and central projects at a public event on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. at Khanapara’s Veterinary College Playground.

Among the important initiatives are the commencement of the Kamakhya temple corridor, allocated a budget of Rs 498 crore, the development of a six-lane road from the new airport terminal in Guwahati, with an investment of Rs 358 crore, and the transformation of Nehru Stadium to FIFA standards, requiring a financial commitment of Rs 831 crore.

Additionally, a new sports complex in Chandrapur, with a budget of Rs 300 crore, is part of the projects. The second phase of the Asom Mala roads, inaugurated by the Prime Minister, will include the construction of 43 new roads and 38 concrete bridges, totaling an investment of Rs 3,444 crore.

PM Modi is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the new building of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, a project estimated at Rs 3,250 crore. The proposed Karimganj Medical College and Hospital, with a budget of Rs 578 crore, and the Rs 297-crore Unity Mall in Guwahati will also witness the laying of foundation stones during the event.

The inauguration of the newly constructed four-lane road from Biswanath Chariali to Gohpur, developed at a cost of Rs 1,451 crore, and another four-lane road from Dolabari to Jamuguri, constructed at a cost of Rs 592 crore, will be highlighted by the Prime Minister.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma disclosed that in total, projects worth Rs 11,599 crore, funded by both the state government and the Centre, will either have their foundation stones laid or be inaugurated by the Prime Minister.

The extensive program, featuring a myriad of developmental initiatives, will enhance the infrastructure and facilities in the region. Prime Minister Modi, who arrived at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport from Odisha on Saturday evening, spent the night at Koinadhara State Guest House, with his return scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
