Pioneer Corporation has announced plans to start manufacturing in-car products in India in 2026, marking a significant step in its expansion into one of Asia’s rapidly growing automotive markets. This decision follows the establishment of a research and development center in India in 2023.
Initially, the production will focus on Display Audio products for automakers, with potential for future expansion to include a wider range of in-car products for both factory installations and retail markets. Pioneer will collaborate with local contractors to set up production facilities.
Shiro Yahara, President and CEO of Pioneer Corporation, stated that local manufacturing will allow the company to better serve Indian automakers and enhance its presence in the country. This initiative is seen as a major milestone for Pioneer as it seeks to strengthen its role in India’s expanding automotive industry. The company’s plan involves creating a comprehensive value chain in India, covering business-to-business sales, R&D, manufacturing, and post-delivery support, which will improve flexibility, shorten delivery times, and provide enhanced after-sales service.
Aniket Kulkarni, Managing Director of Pioneer India Electronics Private Ltd., emphasized that local production will help Pioneer form closer partnerships with Indian automotive manufacturers. This expansion is also aligned with India’s “Make in India” initiative, which promotes domestic manufacturing and is fueling growth in the automotive sector. Pioneer’s shift towards local manufacturing supports its corporate vision of evolving into a solutions provider in the mobility industry.
