Pinnacle Industries will soon start making sleeper berths for the Vande Bharat trains. These berths will be produced at a new plant in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh, costing ₹100 crore and covering 12 acres. The plant will have the capacity to make 15,000 berths per year.

The sleeper berths are designed to be comfortable and lightweight, improving the passenger experience. This project will help modernize India’s railways and create jobs, especially for women.

Pinnacle Industries is the largest company in India for commercial vehicle and bus seating. It has recently expanded into train seating systems, which will be made in the new plant. This facility will also have a research and development center and is expected to be ready by the fourth quarter of FY25.

Sudhir Mehta, chairman of Pinnacle Industries, said this will be their fourth plant in Pithampur. It will help meet the growing demand for railway seating and ambulances. Pinnacle has already received orders for seating systems for the new Vande Bharat trains. These seats are lightweight and ventilated.

The government plans to introduce 400 Vande Bharat trains with 16 coaches each, featuring improved seating systems. The new plant will create over 500 jobs, with 30% of them for women.

Pinnacle has also partnered with the German company Kiel, a leading maker of passenger seating systems for trains and other public transport. Kiel has manufacturing plants in Europe, the US, and Asia.
