Picarro Inc, a provider of advanced solutions for identifying and managing methane leaks, has announced the continued expansion of its partnership with GTI Energy under the Veritas Initiative. This joint effort focuses on enhancing the accuracy and reliability of methane emissions data within the natural gas supply chain.

The Veritas Initiative, led by GTI Energy, is focused on creating a consistent framework for tracking and reporting methane emissions across various segments of the industry. It offers standardized, open-access technical protocols that help companies transition to more accurate, data-driven methods of emissions measurement and reporting. These protocols aim to improve transparency and ensure trust among energy providers, regulators, and investors.

As a specialist in mobile methane detection technologies, Picarro has played a hands-on role in the development and testing of these protocols, including field evaluations using real-world gas distribution data. The company also collaborated with Veritas and the Oil & Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP 2.0), contributing insights from its extensive industry experience.

“Since Veritas was launched in 2022, Picarro has supported the initiative as a Foundational Sponsor,” said François-Xavier Rongère, Vice President for Picarro’s Natural Gas Industry division. “We believe science-based, measurement-informed practices are essential for credible emissions reporting. Our team is committed to helping operators understand their systems better and reduce methane emissions more effectively.”

Amanda Harmon, Executive Director of the Veritas Initiative at GTI Energy, said, “Picarro has been instrumental in shaping the Veritas protocols for gas distribution networks. Their active involvement and technical expertise have significantly contributed to making the framework more robust and actionable. We’re excited to continue this partnership as Veritas gains traction among both regulatory bodies and voluntary initiatives.”

Picarro offers technology platforms designed to help utility companies detect and manage leaks across their natural gas infrastructure. The company’s tools allow for real-time monitoring, improved risk prioritization, and continuous performance evaluation, helping operators lower emissions and operate more efficiently.

Led by GTI Energy, Veritas is a collaborative effort to support the energy industry in reducing methane emissions using verified, science-based data. The initiative includes contributions from research institutions, environmental groups, certification bodies, and industry partners, all working toward clear and consistent emissions metrics.

GTI Energy is a nonprofit organization focused on accelerating energy innovation. Through research, training, and collaboration, GTI Energy works to advance low-emission technologies and promote resilient, cost-effective energy systems built on a foundation of reliable infrastructure and sustainability.
