Pepperl+Fuchs, a global leader in industrial sensor technology, has introduced a new inductive distance sensor equipped with an IO-Link interface. This innovative product is designed to meet the needs of Industry 4.0 applications, providing precise measurements while offering valuable data for condition monitoring and predictive maintenance.
The sensors can detect objects at speeds of up to 3 m/s and provide precise measurement data with a repeat accuracy of 5%. They measure distances up to 30 mm, tracking the speed and acceleration of damping elements. Two independent switching windows with customizable limit values can be configured individually. Adjustable filters allow users to fine-tune the measurement speed and accuracy as needed, and a high switching frequency of up to 1300 Hz reduces throughput times to boost productivity.
Additional information, including temperature, operating times, and counters, is transmitted via the IO-Link interface. This allows for detailed monitoring of speed, acceleration, and historical data, enabling analysis of sub-processes like valve opening/closing or acceleration/braking for shock absorbers. Machine status monitoring supports predictive maintenance and helps prevent unexpected downtimes. For classic applications, devices with analog outputs are also available.
With 6,600 employees worldwide, Pepperl+Fuchs achieved sales of EUR 790 million in 2021. A leader in industrial sensor technology and explosion protection, Pepperl+Fuchs is headquartered in Mannheim, Germany, where engineers and specialists develop advanced technologies and products.
