PAN-DUR, a refrigeration equipment manufacturer, is now using Dürr’s EcoPaintJet to paint glass surfaces without the need for masking. This innovative technology saves time and materials by eliminating the need for individual screens in the screen printing process.
Improved Efficiency and Flexibility
PAN-DUR applies opaque decorative stripes to glass elements of refrigeration units to hide bonded and sealed seams. Previously, this was done using a screen printing process, which required new screens for every variation. Now, the EcoPaintJet allows high edge definition paint application without overspray, making production faster and reducing costs. Each contour is programmed and applied in the desired color without masking the glass, eliminating the need for individual templates and storage space.
Improved Efficiency and Flexibility
Dürr provided PAN-DUR with a complete system, including paint extraction, color dosing, and application control. PAN-DUR developed a multi-axis portal to mount the EcoPaintJet’s adjustable application head, integrating Dürr’s process technology seamlessly. Finding the right paint for glass surfaces was a challenge, and specialist paint company Votteler helped develop the suitable paint with the necessary properties.
Potential for Other Industries
The EcoPaintJet is also suitable for other industries, such as timber, window, kitchen building, and railway vehicle painting. It can be used wherever straight stripes are applied to flat surfaces and masking is currently needed. Dürr is receiving inquiries from various industries, highlighting the system’s versatility and ease of integration into existing production setups.
