Pai Machines, the advanced machinery brand under Infra Bazaar Tech Pvt Ltd (IBTPL), has finalized the acquisition of the manufacturing facilities of L&T Construction Equipment Limited’s (LTCEL) Machinery Works division. This strategic move includes the integration of a 70-member team, comprising 40 specialists in product development and R&D, into Pai Machines. Initiated in June 2024, this acquisition marks Pai Machines’ significant entry into India’s construction equipment market.

The acquired facility has a production capacity exceeding 1,800 units annually, with machines priced between ₹25 lakh and ₹75 lakh. Employing over 300 people, the plant will be central to Pai Machines’ focus on the “Make in India” initiative, producing next-generation electric machinery for earth-moving and construction applications. Plans include expanding into additional markets with equipment such as batching plants, electric tractors, 5-ton wheel loaders, and 3.5-ton mini excavators.

Abhijeet Pai, Founder of Pai Machines, highlighted the transformative potential of this acquisition, stating, “Our goal is to lead in developing innovative, sustainable products that meet the evolving demands of our customers. By incorporating advanced technologies like AI and telematics, we aim to redefine India’s construction equipment landscape with solutions that align with global sustainability goals.”

India’s construction equipment sector is poised for rapid expansion, driven by initiatives like the National Infrastructure Pipeline and urban development projects. Expected to grow at 18% CAGR (2024–2029) and reach $25 billion by 2030, the industry is seeing rising demand for excavators, loaders, and equipment for smart city projects. Pai Machines is positioned to address this demand with sustainable and cutting-edge solutions, aiming to increase India’s currently modest 2% share in the global construction equipment market.

The acquisition also brings with it LTCEL’s legacy, established in 1973, of reliable construction and mining equipment manufacturing. Pai Machines plans to honor this heritage by ensuring seamless support for LTCEL’s existing customers while introducing innovations like electric tractors and AI-driven predictive maintenance to enhance efficiency and minimize downtime.

Based in Bengaluru, Pai Machines‘ facilities now produce high-end machinery tailored for modern construction, road-building, and agricultural operations. Abhijeet Pai, previously the president of Puzzolana Machinery Fabricators and co-founder of Gruhas Proptech, has leveraged his experience to drive Pai Machines’ vision of technological and digital advancement in India’s infrastructure sector. With a focus on sustainability, innovation, and customer-centricity, Pai Machines aims to establish itself as a leading name in India’s advanced machinery manufacturing landscape, fostering long-term client relationships built on trust, quality, and transparency.
